Coming from digital, we’ve had experience with making videos, but until this client came along, we’ve never had the chance to try creating THE ad, a TV commercial. As far as this client goes, it didn’t turn out to be a single experience, because they wanted two TV ads.
The brief was pretty straightforward – the client wanted to focus on the scent of the fabric softener, whose formula contains scent-releasing molecules which react to touch.
With research, we found that another competitor has already claimed a similar feature, so we decided to concentrate on something else this product has to offer. We focused on the fact that these fabric softeners were created with cooperation with French perfumers, and decided to give one a starring role.
To emphasize the complexity and uniqueness of the scents, we created the character of Pierre, a posh French perfumer who can detect almost ANY smell. But can he, really?
The second TV commercial our client entrusted us with was for their laundry detergents.
They wanted to keep it simple, focus on one woman in the tv ad and explain the differences between each detergent.
So we did just that.
Because each detergent is aimed to a certain type/color of clothes, we introduced Violeta laundry detergents as a stylist every woman can trust with her favourite clothes, be it a suit, delicate skirt or dearest sweater she loves to wear often.
The entire process was a great learning experience. We wrote the scripts and in cooperation with the client decided on the director. Then, we partnered up with a production company who handled all the details of each shoot and postproduction.
Both TV ads were a team effort, calling for clear communication and coordination from all three parties included in the process – agency, client and production company. At the end, all we can say is… Magnifique!
