When we talk about games and gamers, we all have the same picture in our head. Kids who spend hours in front of computers and consoles. But Pokemon GO will change that picture forever.
Niantic just released a new mobile game based on everybody’s popular franchise – Pokemon GO. They connected real-world maps and augmented reality to bring a new level of gaming to the market. When you turn it on, you’ll see that Pokemon GO is everything but a classic game. Pokemons appear on various locations around the map and players actually need to visit that locations if they want to capture them. This makes the game alive in a way that hasn’t been done before. Parks are full of people trying to capture Pokemon, they move in groups to various points of interest which are defined in the game. But while some see them as players, we see them as potential customers.
As Pokemon GO users explore their towns in search of Pokemon, local stores, restaurants, movie theaters and other businesses are capitalizing on this massive opportunity and driving huge amounts of foot traffic and conversions both with simple in-app purchases and creative marketing campaigns.
Boost your business by utilising Pokemon GO
Pokemon GO created a world which enables you to bring customers to your business, but before you start utilising this new business model, there are some things you need to know about game mechanics.
PokeStops are places on the map (usually some historic places or monuments), where players can get different goods such as pokeballs, eggs, potions and other ingame items. A cool feature about PokeStops is that you can attach Lure modules on them to attract Pokemon, which then begin spawning more frequently on that location. Because of that, PokeStops are places that attract Pokemon GO players in large numbers.
Pokemon Gym is a place where Pokemon player battle. Just like PokeStops, they are placed on the map, but in a smaller number (they’re usually placed on public buildings like schools, train or bus stations, churches). Each Gym has a leader – a strongest member of the faction that’s in control of a Gym. If a player wants to take control of Gym, he needs to beat the leader and other players that are currently controlling it.
Lure Module is a great feature in Pokemon GO as it can be used to boost your business. This item can be attached to a PokeStop Each Lure Module lasts for 30 minutes, and during that period it attracts a large amount of Pokemon to that specific location, and more importantly, it also attracts a large number of players. You can purchase them with ingame currency or find them at various PokeStops for free. The price of one Lure module is 100 PokeCoins.
As of right now, it looks like the only way to get PokeCoins is to buy them with real money. There are six different tiers for buying coins, and the prices are as follows:
- 100 Pokécoins – $0.99
- 550 Pokécoins – $4.99
- 1200 Pokécoins – $9.99
- 2500 Pokécoins – $19.99
- 5200 Pokécoins – $39.99
- 14500 Pokécoins – $99.99
These are the basic game mechanics that you need to know before you start growing your business. Read our other blog posts with ideas on how to use this Pokemadness to promote your brand. Gotta catch ‘em all! Pokemon or players?
