Whether you want to work on your general knowledge or just want to gain more insight into the field of digital marketing, we bring you online courses you should consider taking.

Great thing about these courses is that not only do they provide you with extra knowledge in a very short period of time (and for free), they also offer Statements of Accomplishment you can always attach to your CV to make it stand out a notch from all of the other candidates.

1. DUOLINGO

Oldie but goldie

ABOUT: As their main motto states, Duolingo is a great place for anyone who wants to „Learn a language for free. Forever.“ No „learn-now, pay-later“ policies, just you and a few cool apps to keep you on track. All you have to do is choose from Spanish, French, Italian, German and/or Portuguese and the language you want to be learning from (they offer a slightly larger variety of languages to choose for your starting point).

TIMELINE: Depends on your own pace (you can go slowly with one level a week, or go breakneck with 8 levels a day). It also gives you an option to skip certain lessons and start at a higher level if you wish. :)

PROS: You can pick things up at your own pace, and it will still be fun. Great for beginners! Plus, the daily reminder they send you is nothing like a boring newsletter you usually get in your inbox.

CONS: Potentially addictive.

2. A BEGINNER’S GUIDE TO IRRATIONAL BEHAVIOUR

Learn to understand people’s decision making processes

ABOUT: Whether you’re really into psychology, or you want to dig deeper into your (potential) customer’s decision-making process, this course will offer plenty of insight and explain it in beginner-level terms that are very easy to understand. Moreover, it’ll guide you through simple cases teaching you about times when your irrationalities can actually work in your favour.

TIMELINE: 8 weeks, 7-11 hours of work a week.

PROS: Teaches you how to control your performance and understand the actions in your work and private environment.

CONS: If you tend to have trouble accepting unusual thought patterns, this might be a bit of a challenge. But once you get over it, you’ll love it! :)

3. GAMIFICATION

Solve your problems child-play easy

ABOUT: Gamification gives you an opportunity to introduce game elements and digital game design techniques to numerous problem-solving processes (even to the ones non-business related).

For all of those who need a new point of view in their business and private riddles, this course provides you with everything you need to know about putting your problems into a simpler, more controlled context and making the solving process more fun. Its additional advantage is the vast possibility of application – ranging from marketing, training, innovation and sustainability to social impact challenges and health issues.

TIMELINE: 4 to 8 hours of work a week.

PROS: „Add to LinkedIn“ feature.

CONS: The grading system includes peer review, which doesn’t always have to be realistic and objective.

4. IDEAS OF THE TWENTIETH CENTURY

Impress both your boss and your future mother-in-law

ABOUT: A great chance to widen your horizons and get new perspectives on many ideas you trusted yourself to be familiar with. This course does not only pose a question of an event’s relevance within the modern history context, but it also clearly discusses its’ justification and causes. No matter the broad perspective, it is ideal for anyone who wants to take advantage of the moments passed – not only by learning from them, but also by extracting interesting concepts and applying them to solve more recent issues. Additionally, it is great for widening your overall knowledge of philosophy, art, literature and history.

TIMELINE: 15 weeks, 4 to 6 hours a week.

PROS: A great intro video for you to check if this is what you want to invest your time in.

CONS: It could easily get you off track from exploring your narrow field of interest.

5. LEAN LAUNCH PAD

Make your failures worthwhile

ABOUT: In order to reduce the already immense risk of failing at any stage in your entrepreneurial life, this course helps you engage all the information you have in order to figure out what could work for your specific product or service. It slowly teaches you how to turn your customers (negative) feedback to your main landmark for success. The Customer Development process greatly enhances your entire business model and your own perspective of your product and/or service.

TIMELINE: 4 weeks, 6 hours a week.

PROS: Ideal if you’re a future startuper lost in time and space.

CONS: You shouldn’t follow it by the book – adapt the steps to fit your own needs!

Thank you Nina for the great inputs. MOO courses are really getting bigger, better and more diversified each day. I will definitely check out Gamification - sounds like a great course. I would also recommend Udemy as a great learning platform.
